I really want to work with animals, and i now know what i want to do, I Love Dolphins and Orca’s (killer Whales)
i think Sea World would be a good job for me to work at for awhile but i want to get into the field of actually working with Dolphins and Killer Whales, where i can help keep them safe, if they get beached i want to be one those people who work hard to get them back into the ocean, i want to protect them from pochers, i want to swim with them, and train them, and be around them, i’m in a Scuba Diving class so i’m learning to swim and breathe underwater with certain pressures so that may help wonders in a certain part, but what kind of job is there where i can actually accomplish those types of things?
This is something that i would really love to do, and i plan to go to college but i’m not sure what course it would fall under, so i can study everything about Sea Life and how it all functions.

Marine Biologist would be one job I know off hand. Check more so into marine labs-most likely will be along coastal towns. In Sarasota, FL there’s one called Mote Marine Lab, they have a web site you can research them. But they do all that stuff, rescue manatees, dolphins, whales etc. and try to release them back when healthy.
Unless you actually have a degree in Marine Biology, you are going to be hard pressed to find a job in that field. A good place to study is in Monterey Bay, CA. Tons of job opportunities out there too.
You will need minimum masters degrees in both marine biology and pyschology with a minor in animal behavior. Alternatively you can get a masters degree in marine biology and then become a veterinarian (specializing in marine mammals) As long as you have your bachelors degree you may qualify for a temporary internship if you stay in school that will allow you to do grunt work (chopping up fish, scrubbing tanks) but they wont let you in the water or near the animals. These are all volunteer/unpaid positions.
Resorts have popped up where people pay a fortune to be near/swim with these animals. If you don’t want to spend at least a decade in school you should check out some of the resorts in Mexico or the Carribean that have marine mammal swimalong programs, you might be able to score one of those with only a bachelors degree.
Marine biology is the way to go although not all of us end up in the water sadly. Your other option would be Sea World. They accept good swimmers for their diving shows and you don’t even need a degree (just have to look good in a bathing suit and swim well I hear these days LOL) .. but marine bio is rewarding in so many other ways too! Start taking all the bio classes you can get into. I know my daughter was able to take oceanography and several different bio classes in high school. Scuba diving is also a great addition as well as free diving. Best of luck to you!!
